Albatross news

A few screenshots of the new star of the Royal Albatross Cam. This season's chick hatched January 26th 2022.

Both parents at the nest for a brooding shift change. Mom (front) has been at sea for a few days gathering food while dad has looked after the chick. The pair in the spotlight this year is the same as 2020's, so the new chick is Atawhai's little sibling. Mom can be recognized by a yellow-red-black band on her left leg, and dad has an orange-green-black one.

Parents preening each other during their time together. Their reunions are so sweet to witness.

Browsing TS2 cc I came across the matching shirt sets Dig Up His/Her Bones by MissTiikeri (which can be found here, and preview pictures can be found here), and the AF set included these two fun shirts with grabby monster hands. However, in the AM set they're replaced with recolors of two of the other shirts, and that hardly seems fair, so I made matches of the two AF ones for sims assigned M at CAS, too.

Both eaglets ate very well yesterday at SWFL Bald eagles, and some small steps were taken towards learning to eat independently. Post includes views of prey, and some sibling rivalry.

I've been playing The Sims 2 since 2004, and only now it occurred to me I could put custom paintings in the game for the sims to paint.

The experiment is a success.

Eaglet table manners after a stormy day

Feeding the next morning. E19 eating, while E20 waits submissively for their turn. Hunger brings out the sibling rivalry more (though it is a normal part of this developmental stage anyway) and makes the eaglets' pecking order stricter, and the storm the day before kept them from getting as much to eat as usual, though both did eat.

Raptors of east and west, of scale and feather

I don't see JW toys in stores here much if at all anymore, so I was surprised to spot this raptor. I don't have one with this sculpt yet, so it came home with me.

The packaging is Camp Cretaceous-themed, but I don't know whether the raptor itself is relevant to the show. I'm not complaining about getting some pretty box art without having to look at Owen's face on it, though.

Grass blankets, neighbors, and beakies

Sleepy fluffy eaglets

Cute screenshots of the almost-two-week-old SWFL eaglets from the past couple of days. Warning for views of prey, though. It is a raptor nest.

First lined up for a feeding, younger eaglet E20 higher on screen, E19 lower. Both have been eating well, and sibling rivalry has been low.

Then it's time for many sleepy cuddles. E20 left, E19 right.
