Bird science

Long time no post. I did finish AM2R, I've just been really depressed and haven't felt much like talking about anything, but I do still have things to say (and screenshots to show) about this game, so I might as well write them down.

Spoilers for AM2R, and the other two versions of Metroid 2. Also spoilers for Metroid Dread that are warned for again when relevant.

Starting with more marveling at the scenery. The big chamber before the entrance to the nest proper is beautiful! And completely empty other than this backdrop.

Bird city.
Oh yeah, this is not ominous at all...

The scan that comes up when you approach the glowing orb is written in Chozo!

The scan that came up as I entered the laboratory is again not the most necessary, as the environment tells its story well: combined with the lab being above a city decorated with Chozo statues, and Metroid larvae being depicted in carvings on the walls of the building, I can conclude Metroids are an artificial life form created by the Chozo. But I think the scan feature is worth it just for that ominous "Unknown" message at the broken statue.

I see you lurking there in the shadows! (But only on my second try after you already killed me once and I know where to look.)
Before continuing on, another thing that appeared on screen as I entered the lab is this text that glitched and blinked a few times before fading. I'm not sure what I expected it to say, but it's the word "interloper".

Metroid Dread spoilers for the last paragraph:

Given that the Zebesian Chozo alphabet that's used here being legible is through fan effort after Dread came out and introduced the ZDR Chozo alphabet that's actually functional and roughly matches the shapes of the Zebes alphabet, I think this and the Unknown scan are additions of the patch made after Dread's release. "Intruder" would have made sense as just a normal thing for a still-functioning security system to alert about, but I don't think this is about just someone at all entering the lab. Something in the lab's security scan identified Samus as a Mawkin! I don't know how different the reception might have been if she wasn't one, as the Metroid larvae being there is not a booby-trap, but maybe that's why the doors lock behind her.
