This girl is!
I made a few small additions, and after those I'm calling the sculpting stage done. Time to paint Skye next! The figure looks like such a patchwork right now, with the polymer clay and epoxy putty not exactly blending into each other. It'll be interesting to see how she looks in a more uniform colour.
A little mini photoshoot twirl before I bring out the brushes.
The small additions include a few individual feathers to the tail, two on the topside and three on the underside, and filling out the head crest a bit more.
Mostly I added to the head feathers on the left side, which was looking a bit sparse in comparison to the right, and I also added one more long feather to the top of the crest.
Another tool added to my arsenal that I found useful, a bit late, but better than never, was that I already did use a brush while working on the head feathers. It's not a brush I'll use for painting, as using it for smoothing putty would probably ruin it for that, but I had a few small makeup brushes I'd gotten as a gift at one point. I don't wear makeup, but I'd kept them in case I'd want to use them as art supplies, because brushes, and I guess that one's my sculpting brush now.
It's been an interesting, mostly fun and at time stressful process, and I'm so happy to discover I can make something like this. I've technically been working on her since January, which I spent making plans, sketches, and measurements, and doing research, even though the actual sculpting started in February.
