High synch rates and self-feeding successes

[post includes close views of gory prey]

Rainy breakfast this morning at the Sydney White-bellied Sea-eagle nest. SE28 (left) and SE27 are both standing while eating!

And later they're loafing. SE27 on the left now.

Eaglet plumage and self-feeding WIPs

It's been almost a week since my last Sydney seaglet screenshot dump. Both eaglets are now six weeks old.

[Post includes views of gory prey, including closeups]

Here's them today, older eaglet SE27 at the back and younger eaglet SE28 at the front.

But let's rewind a few days. Lying down in the same spot and order on the 8th.

Painting Beetlebiter

With the boy sculpted, time for paint!

First a base coat of white, to cover up the dark green and the grey putty, and give the character's rather light colour palette a chance.

Seaglet closeups

Lots of nice zooming of cuddly chicks at Sydney White-bellied Sea-eagle cam yesterday and today. Here's the younger eaglet SE28 holding the spotlight, while older sibling SE27 sleeps just off-frame to their left.

(post includes a few views of prey, but feedings are not shown this close up)

Eaglets getting spotty

The Sydney White-bellied Sea-eaglets are growing their dark juvenile plumage feather dot by feather dot, and are little by little leaving behind their baby floofiness. Both chicks have been eating well and getting along. Here's a bunch of cute screenshots of them from the past few days (includes views of prey, no sibling rivalry).

SE28 preening, older sibling SE27 resting. SE28 is a month old on this day!

End of a season

Empty nest #3 at Satakunta osprey cam this morning, with some prettily reflecting raindrops.

It seems migration has started for both of the remaining residents, Ahti and his fledgling Myy. Ahti was last seen on August 31st bringing Myy a fish, and Myy was seen yesterday by herself, but she hasn't shown up today. Safe travels to both, hoping to see Ahti and Nuppu again in the spring, and I hope Myy, and SRS from nest #1, fare well at figuring out life on ther own, on the way to and during their juvenile years in Africa.

Here are some screenshots I took of Ahti and Myy before they left, and of some other birds that have stopped by at both nests.

Limb and tail replacements

Making new extremities to complete the sculpting on the JP "cyclops" raptor figure I'm repairing and customizing into my OC Beetlebiter. I've already made him a new face.
