The Royal Albatross cam has also gotten a new star, who hatched January 24th. Here are a few screenshots I got of the chick just now.

3-day-old fluffy terrors
No one's gotten hurt, though, and both have gotten plenty to eat. Feisty babies are healthy and strong babies.
(cw: the last screenshots in the post show a half-eaten fish in the nest)

More of the SWFL eagle twins
Screenshots of the two eaglets who hatched yesterday at SWFL eagle cam.
Dad is with them at the moment. There's no food at the nest right now, but it looks like the chicks are eager to eat once it arrives. The last of the yolk from the egg is still inside them as food, so there's not too much hurry with that, and they can take their time strengthening their neck muscles enough to be able to hold their head up first.I'll just say right now that I probably won't be able to tell them apart all season. That's okay, they're both cute.
Two hatches in a day!
Both of the two eggs at the SWFL Bald Eagle nest have hatched yesterday afternoon. While last season's E15 and E16 hatched almost three days apart, the newest hatchlings E17 and E18 only have less than two hours of age difference!
Dad M15 taking over brooding duties soon after the hatches. Older sibling E17 still hasn't completely dried their down feathers, and E18 has split the shell open but still has it around them.

Is "we're safe now" a safe thing to say after all of this still happened soon after saying "the worst part's over"? Well, sometimes you have to say what's comforting to hear and hope saying it makes it true.
These characters are very dear to my heart, and for what I've put them through the least they deserve is hugs and handholdings. Maybe I'll draw something happy about (this AU's version of) them sometime later after I eventually finish this comic, to make up for it.

(Warning for still a bit of blood on this page.)
I did indeed write the dinosaur screams and the human screams using exactly the same kind of letters for both on purpose. Obviously they don't both sound the same, but they can kind of sound like they would have the same translation if you're only fluent in one of the languages. And, I suppose to some extent they do.
I think the JP/W raptors' sounds hold up pretty well, especially with the added recognizably birdy chirps and quacks from JP3, which I wish JW had kept more of. Rexes may not have roared, especially just for the sake of a trailer shot, but a social species of raptor using various screams, clicks, trills, and hisses to communicate and not being very noisy otherwise is pretty believable, and birds do make all kinds of weird sounds one might not at first hearing associate with birds at all (albatrosses and barn owls for example have been pretty surprising to me while watching them on nest cams - the sound the former greet each other with kind of sounds like a series of oinks followed by a strangely mechanical-sounding version of blowing a raspberry and finished with a cross between a moo and a meow, and of the sound the latter make when alarmed, the most accurate description I've run into would have to be "possessed chalkboard noises").

Well, we're back... in the car again.
Also suddenly a very colourful panel painted strangely. I hope the image style is recognizable for what it is. Literally seeing like that is probably not quite how that would actually work, but this should get the idea across. I tried just having the red to go with the rest of the comic's spot colour choice (though Indo's eyes already have a bit of yellow on the page where we see him), but it didn't look right.
No blood on this page for a change.

Raptor obedience thoughts
(Spoilers for Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)
That's obviously very false advertizing if he's talking about the prototype, but it's pretty baseless of an assumption even if he means the Indoraptor project in general, and the future versions they haven't created yet. Because drawing the conclusion that raptors can be made to obey humans from the raising and training of Blue and her sisters is just incorrect. They never followed human command, either.
That's what I recently claimed in one of my update commentaries for Collision, at least, so elaborating a bit on that topic.
