Plenty of fish for all

Trio, duo, solo

Screenshots from Sääksilive Osprey nests. Include views of fish prey, as well as a broken egg.

At nest #4, Nuppu (left) and Nemo with their 2-week-old chicks (N3, N1, N2 l-r). N3 turned two weeks yesterday.

At nest #1, Eve with her considerably younger brood. E1 (closer to camera) is 6 days old, E2 4 days. The third egg seems to have been inviable, and hasn't started hatching. But two chicks is good, too.

At nest #3, Taika feeding T2, who is going to be an only child. This nest has had bad luck with hatches this season, and while the third egg started hatching, it never finished. T2 is 5 days old today.

Preens and a new successful hatch

Screenshots from Sääksilive Osprey nests.

Eve and little E1 at nest #1. The osplet is a day old. Or half a day in this screenshot, having hatched in the afternoon.

I have raised a strawberry!

Or grown, whatever, but I sure have been doting on this potted strawberry plant like a baby.

Some food successes

Screenshots from Sääksilive Osprey nest #4. Contain views of fish prey.

Mom Nuppu feeding the chicks, which are lined up in age order. All three ate well at this meal. Also N1 and N2's second plumages are coming in quickly, now both have fully dark back of the head.

Snacks and stacks

N3, N1, and N2 from the front. They are 6, 9, and 8 days old, respectively.

N2 facing the wrong way. The back of N1's head is getting dark, with change into second down plumage.

Nuppu feeding the youngest.
Stacked chicks.
N3 is a little stuck behind bigger siblings again.
But manages to score some bites.

Where could it be?

Good luck with the search.

New birds on the block

Screenshots from Sääksilive Osprey nests. Two contain a glimpse of fish prey.

Nest #2 has been getting some traffic. Though there are no eggs or chicks, it's been visited by adult Ospreys, two of which might be a pair. Here's one of them, with SKT as her yellow band ID. Her gentleman companion of as of yet uncertain marital status has the yellow band ID TAR. They were banded as nestlings in 2020 and 2019, respectively, so both are quite young. Perhaps they'll move in next season?

Another visitor at nest #2: a male Cuckoo spends a moment calling.
And feeding shots from nest #4. N2, N3, N1 from left to right. 5, 3, and 6 days old, respectively.

Bundling the babies.

Hat tricks, sunset mist, and meal moments

Screenshots from Sääksilive Osprey nests, warning for views of dead fish again. The third chick hatched today at nest #4!

First two pretty snapshots from last night at nest #3, with the resident female Taika incubating her eggs as mist engulfs the swamp around the nest tree at sunset. It's been another hot day.

Then to nest #4, where the chicks' dad Nemo finally makes an appearance in a screenshot, though he has been keeping the nest well supplied with fish. Nemo is on the left, mom Nuppu feeding the chicks. Nuppu has a metal band (🎶🎸) on her right leg, Nemo is not banded.

Double event

Screenshots from Sääksilive Osprey nest #4. The second chick hatched yesterday evening. Warning for bloody and headless fish.

Brunch for both.
