Eagle pool party

Some moments from SWFL Bald Eagle cam yesterday. The fledglings are still hanging around for now, but it's starting to be the time where they could leave for their big eagle adventure any day now (or they could continue to live at home and enjoy free food for several more weeks, only time will tell).

Dad brought a bird prey to the pond, and after a scuffle between the eaglets, E15 claimed it. E16 got some fish later. Though the food is caught for them and brought to them, there's always at least a little bit of "stealing" behavior in receiving the food deliveries, whether it's towards their sibling or the parent. That's great for preparing them for eventually being on their own. Here's E15 guarding her breakfast on the left, E16 is in the middle, and dad M on the right.

M staying near, with being this near it's possibly to remind the eaglets with his presence not to let their guard down about keeping their food, even if they are on their home turf. He's stolen back food from them before and made them chase him to get it back, lol. M walks along the bank past E15, E16 follows after him and squees. Surely dad still has more snacks to share? In a pocket, perhaps.

E16 on a pond pylon.
E16 balancing on garden lights.
And E16 tugging at sticks.
E15 meanwhile is snoozing after her big meal.
E15 on the left, E16 back on the pylon.
E15 flies to a pylon on E16's right.
E15 being watchful, and pretty.
E15 on the fence, E16 on the ground.
E16 (front/higher) jumps to the fence, too. Got to stick close together - you never know when one might acquire some food for the other to steal.
A rainbow over the nest tree in the evening. E16 is perched on the left of the nest. E15 is not visible here, but was on a branch below the nest at the time.
