SWFL eagle fledgling antics from yesterday.
E15 perching near the pond in the morning.
E16, too, leaves the nest tree and goest to the trees near the pond. First to a snag, then to this palm tree, and then changes trees again. How do your parents manage to keep track of you two now that you can fly?
Ooh, what's this?
Hops around carrying her new treasure. A dead fish??
And she starts pecking at it, so I think it was something edible at least. Scavenging is going to be an important part of their food acquisition when they're on their own, so good job learning!
E15 in a sideways palm tree a bit later.
A heavy rain shower, and E15 splashes around in the pond like her feathers weren't wet enough already.
E16 sees breakfast arrive at the nest, and flies home from yet another tree.
And E15 turns up, too. So that's how you keep track of them.
E16 screams and mantles, but E15 doesn't seem interested in stealing his food. Seems the thing she found at the pond was indeed a meal.
E15 sharing a tree with a blackbird.
Spending another rain shower at the nest. E16 on the left, E15 on the right.
Harriet brings a fish, which E16 mantles. E15 squees for one of her own, but it'll have to be caught first.
A yet again soaked E15.
A not so soaked E15. Soars to the front snag she perched in with the blackbird earlier.
E15 again, looking like she lives in a more remote location than she does, with no buildings in frame.
E16 tracks something.
Both fledglings in the front snag. I'm pretty sure it's E15 on the left/lower, E16 on the right/higher. They flew to it pretty much at the same time, too, with both having been at the nest tree.
Mom and dad in the front pine as the sun sets.
E16 perches in the outer attic for the night. E15 is in a tree next to the camera 2 tree. Good night!
