Fence tricks

"What's it look like out there?"

Employing more conventional means at a different part of the park, Olive concludes that the leaves on the other side of the fence are indeed always greener and tastier.

Things change so quickly

Nuppu and her chicks Una (middle) and Jouko three days ago at nest#4 of Sääksilive Osprey nests. Dramatic turns of events at this nest have been continuing, and it's starting to look like the latest twist is a sad one for one of the siblings.

Jouko at the edge of the nest the next day in what might be my last screenshot of him. He fledged later that day, to escape what seems to have been a large raptor approaching the nest, and hasn't been seen since. After a search for him on location yesterday, the news as I recall is that neither the osplet himself nor signs of an osplet having been caught by a predator were found in the surrounding area, but that he hasn't returned to the nest by now means something has likely happened to him, perhaps farther away, as an exhausted and lost new fledgling is not the most equipped to avoid predators. If he is fine after all and hanging out somewhere away from the nest, accepting parents' fish deliveries to his new address, I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but it is looking pretty likely by now that Nuppu and Niilo only have one chick left.

He was such a cute and tenacious little osplet, and I'm sad his journey may have ended here after already coming so far. But so it sometimes goes in nature, not every new life makes it to adulthood.

But life continues, at this nest, too. Una has returned to the nest, and here receives a fishtail from Nuppu.

Raptor paddock makeovering

Figures the first mods I install have to do with Velociraptors.
I used these lovely custom scenery items, and these invisible fences.

The paddock to the left of the monorail station houses Ankylosaurus. Officially they're part of the gyrosphere valley's fauna, but in the movie they're clearly not, probably because their tail clubs can crack the gyrospheres. The tour guide voice heard inside the gyrospheres in the game will claim they can't. Tour guide voice is lying to you.

The middle paddock is for the Velociraptors, but more on those later. To the left of them are Dilophosaurus, which I assume were kept in the restricted area since they're not an exhibit, but must have been on the island at the time of the park's closing.

They're cute. And get solid fences because they'll spit on people through them otherwise like some scaly, hissy llamas.

This paddock on the other side of the raptors is, of course, for the Indominus rex. This is how many trees they wanted there! If the dinos' habitat requirements are at all canon, no wonder the individual in the movie didn't like her paddock. Seems so counterintuitive for an animal that has so many adaptations for hiding, but then again, evolution to perfectly fit a niche in nature isn't what made this creature.
