The fences are more of a guideline

Latest at my JWE sandbox park somewhat modeled after the moviepark (but gone pretty AU from there, lol).

Well, the herbivores in the Cretaceous Cruise enclosure don't seem very intimidated by the spinosaurids they're neighbors with, so that's good.

"Hey, before you girls head to your fish feeder just yet, there's a gyrosphere just about to come through the gate to your side, if you want to harass that."

"Thanks for the heads-up! We'll give them a good scare."

Neighbors?

The Velociraptors get more space finally, with renovations having concluded in the part of their paddock that has been closed with a gate so far. What kind of renovations? Oh, just power going out in parts of the electrified fences, nothing major - and it's fixed! So all is well. :)

Some pretty screenshots of the parrots that take flight when you delete forest in Jurassic World Evolution.

Which is a neat detail... but also really sad. Did I just destroy habitat of dinosaur species, potentially including endangered ones, native to their present-day ecosystem, to make room for my theme park of dazzling rich tourists with cloned dinosaurs that became extinct so long ago that their niches in nature have long since been filled, making them non-native everywhere on present-day Earth? Probably did, yeah. It's not like Islas Nublar and Sorna were blank slates devoid of wildlife before the clone dinos got released there.

Just cute seaglets

Allegedly smarter than dolphins and primates

More adventures at my JWE moviepark park (previously: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

Oh boy, a chance to visit the facility behind the gate! Got a text with a temporary access code (expires in 15 minutes, so let's be quick about this, no time for sightseeing) and an order to go resupply a feeder in there.

Weird, because my staff map app still says the paddock in there is empty. Maybe they meant the second feeder at the back of the Velociraptor paddock and got them mixed up since it's so close. Well, I'm keeping this text as evidence, and they can't make me carry this stuff over there later if it's their mistake!

Meanwhile, at the aforementioned Velociraptor paddock:

"Hey Charlie, I bet you can't fit your head through the bars on the gate!"

"Oh yeah? Watch this! -Wait, how do I...? Oh shit, I'm stuck! Help!"

"Calm down, you'll hurt yourself trying to pull your head back like that! Try fitting the rest of you through instead?"

"Well, now my butt is stuck! Any more ideas?"

Indominus rex and Indoraptor hand thoughts

(Spoilers for Fallen Kingdom, not much for Jurassic World,
and none for JW: Dominion)

As it was recently brought to my attention in a comment to a picture I drew of indoraptorlet Sunny using her opposable thumbs, the movie hybrids' hands are a bit weirder than I'd previously noticed: They seem to have two phalanx bones on both the first and second digit, when I'd assumed it's only the first, and that the second would have more than that like the third and fourth do.

In addition to scrutinizing the movie, here's a screenshot I took of the hands of Jurassic World Evolution's Indominus rex model, which was created using the model from the movie. Yep! Looks like two phalanges on the second digit. Okay, why does that matter?

Fence tricks

"What's it look like out there?"

"Get your head back in here before they notice! It's supposed to be a secret we can do that, remember?"

Employing more conventional means at a different part of the park, Olive concludes that the leaves on the other side of the fence are indeed always greener and tastier.

Things change so quickly

Nuppu and her chicks Una (middle) and Jouko three days ago at nest#4 of Sääksilive Osprey nests. Dramatic turns of events at this nest have been continuing, and it's starting to look like the latest twist is a sad one for one of the siblings.

Jouko at the edge of the nest the next day in what might be my last screenshot of him. He fledged later that day, to escape what seems to have been a large raptor approaching the nest, and hasn't been seen since. After a search for him on location yesterday, the news as I recall is that neither the osplet himself nor signs of an osplet having been caught by a predator were found in the surrounding area, but that he hasn't returned to the nest by now means something has likely happened to him, perhaps farther away, as an exhausted and lost new fledgling is not the most equipped to avoid predators. If he is fine after all and hanging out somewhere away from the nest, accepting parents' fish deliveries to his new address, I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but it is looking pretty likely by now that Nuppu and Niilo only have one chick left.

He was such a cute and tenacious little osplet, and I'm sad his journey may have ended here after already coming so far. But so it sometimes goes in nature, not every new life makes it to adulthood.
But life continues, at this nest, too. Una has returned to the nest, and here receives a fishtail from Nuppu.
