Collision, page 10

Comic can be found here at my site (all pages in one), and here at deviantart (latest page).

So, what on Earth was that? We know (or at least I hope I made him recognizable), but the average person in-universe? (some Fallen Kingdom spoilers to follow)

The Jurassic World animals being on the loose is hardly classified information, and it could not be anyway, with people running into them and recognizing them as obviously not a normal part of local fauna. As I've understood the public has also been informed of what animals they can expect to run into, as far as there is documentation in-universe on which species and how many individuals were taken off the island (in some cases down to which individuals, like Blue, or Rexy the only T. rex). And, in the case of animals that have been observed to be reproducing on the mainland (like the Nasutoceratops), that the population has increased since then.

I didn't originally specify when after Fallen Kingdom this comic takes place, but seeing as it's the next chapter in my AU about Blue and the Indoraptor prototype, you can assume it's taking place around right now, or late November 2020 if you're reading this sometime later (I checked in advance the lunar phase for that first page with November 29th in mind). At this point the dino situation is not new anymore. I haven't really looked into how things will be in the next movie, but I assume that to at least some extent things would calm down a bit after a while. People would still be scared of running into dinosaurs, but I imagine there's work being done to track them down and monitor them, capture them when possible, and in general reduce the chances of them and people hurting each other.

The problem that is the Indoraptor, however - what would be said about him in the event that he didn't just conveniently die before even leaving the Lockwood manor?

Those who want the escaped dinosaurs not to be seen as monsters, and those who were going to benefit from the Indoraptor project and don't want to be held responsible, must both be pretty happy he's kept a low profile instead of going on a murder spree the day after his escape. I think it would be irresponsible not to tell people about him, and I think the people who in-universe would be in the position to tell people about him would consider him a particularly high safety risk even compared to the other carnivores. "That thing can't leave this building", right?

And it's not completely unfounded, after all he has demonstrably been trained to attack humans, though I continue to think the way the hybrids in the JW movies are treated by the narrative and the characters is at times quite hypocritical. Owen should consider Blue a high safety risk as well - she has attacked and killed humans before, and a wild animal imprinted on humans always lacks at least some of the fear of humans that might cause its conspecifics to choose flight over fight when confronted. Would he, though, considering she's basically a daughter to him? Good thing she's kept a low profile, too.

I guess the question is how much is actually known about the Indoraptor? We know quite a bit, but to people in-universe, the sources are kind of limited. Mills is dead, Dr. Wu has disappeared again, anything that was in the lab was probably destroyed in the explosion. Are there even photos? The information available might be just what Claire, Owen, and Maisie remember seeing and overhearing. What's released of that information might be mostly some version of "theropod of indeterminate species, do not approach".

 Well, they're trying not to.
