Collision, page 14

Comic can be found here at my site (all pages in one), and here at deviantart (latest page).

Content warning for blood continues.

In addition to the calligraphy brush and tablet, I also used a brush-tipped marker on this page, for the screamy texts.

I had fun with the lettering in general on this page, and I like when I can use how a sound - whether it's a sound effect or dialogue - is written to convey more about how it's said or how it sounds. But more on that later.

As for why weren't Ev and April running already? Well, as much as it can be a gut reaction when you find yourself in a scary situation, and sometimes a very useful one, generally when trying to avoid a large predator that's way faster than you, running should be your last resort unless safety is close enough and/or you have enough of a headstart that you actually stand a chance of making it in time if it chases you. In fact, running might just be what causes the animal's hunting instincts to reclassify you from "something strange and therefore scary" to "prey". There's more nuance to it than that in practice, of course, but all of that is further muddled when dealing with an animal that lacks an instinctual fear of humans. More on that later, too.
