Raptor logi(sti)c(s) thoughts

Today's Indoraptor thought concerns the logistics of his escape and the space it takes place in. How did he get from point A (the display cage in the auction room) to point B (grabbing the two mercenaries who were with Mills during exposition about Maisie)?

My first thought, because it's the route most explicitly featured on screen, was that what if in addition to accidentally getting the elevator doors to open, he managed to get the elevator to move, too.

"Didn't I just tell you to hold the door? Rude."

Probably not. There seem to be two elevators on the level where the animals' longer term cages were (maybe one only goes down to the auction room and the other only up to the mansion?), but both have their doors visible where Mills telling Claire, Owen, and Maisie the thing about Maisie takes place, and the Indoraptor leaps from some side corridor instead. Oh well, would have been funny.

The elevator is behind Mills.

In addition to the elevator, there are at least two staircases that the auction guests are using to escape the Stygimoloch.

So the Indoraptor could have just gone up the stairs. Owen probably did, too (he used the elevator to get down, but it's still down there by the time the Indoraptor escapes, and seems to normally require a passcode, which Owen wouldn't know).

The guests who took the stairs, as well as the Stygimoloch, end up outside the mansion where the animals would be loaded into trucks.

The bigger garage door through which the remaining animals escape in the end is to the left there.

So... the staircases lead outside. Owen went back into the building because Claire and Maisie are there, but the Indoraptor could have gotten outside already here, and didn't take that chance.

Or did the Indoraptor use still some other route? The door through which his cage was brought into the auction room is open when he escapes. I suppose he could have climbed through there. The staircases don't look too small for him to fit through, and being able to fit into human buildings is what he was made for, too, but maybe the route about which he knows where it goes felt safer? He's probably never been outside a cage before, after all, other than, like, when he was small enough to fit on the palm of a lab technician's hand.

...But the cage door is the route through which Wheatley enters the auction room, after having watched the frightened guests and the Stygimoloch run out. And it is the door through which the dino in the display cage would be loaded into a truck, so of course it leads outside.

Indo, darling, you absolute mess of a dinosaur, you had at least two options to get out of the mansion and run off into the woods before the protagonists even knew you'd escaped. Was the great outdoors so scary or something that you had to lurk around in the mansion first?

We could have avoided all of this, you know.
