Moderate fluffening, and the things you put up with as a bird parent

It's a little hard to see without movement, but A3 (middle) and A1 (front) are having a tug-o-war with a fish piece. A3 won, and mom gave A1 a new piece right after. Plenty of food, but a bit of fighting over it every now and then is instinctual. Haven't really seen much bonking since their very earliest days together, though.

Lined up for fish today, too (A3, A1, A2 left to right). I think they're probably now the fluffiest they're going to get, with their second coat of down grown in. Juvenile plumage of pennaceous feathers is next.

At nest #3, dad Ahti got a little brooding time with baby N2 today.

He did a good job at it, until one pretty awkward shift of position earned him N2's disapproval, and the little 6-day-old bit him as feedback!

Accompanied by the most pissed off squeaky-toy-noises you can imagine.

No complaints on Ahti's fishing skills, though. That'll be enough for several meals.
