Alerts and wingers

Myy, Nuppu, and Ahti during an intruder alert at Satakunta Osprey nest #3, a few days ago. Is Nuppu unsure again of whether she should get down or stay up, or is she covering Myy?

Evening Myys from two days ago. Preening, looking around, exercising, and growing.

And more wingers this morning. Her wings are getting stronger and her feathers are starting to be fully grown in. Fledging is not far now!

Dad is in his watch tree that's directly behind Myy in the distance, and judging by sounds mom is on the camera.

Ahti visits the nest. He brought a stick, and did some renovating with the ones already at the nest. He seemed to really dislike the placement of this stick in particular, and worked hard on moving it. Myy preens in the meantime.

Nictitating membranes closed when grabbing things with his beak, to protect his eyes from stray twigs.

Myy closeups.
In mom's shadow.
Nuppu moves to the nest, having seen Ahti flying in.
Fish! Fish! Fish!
Myy no longer waits for mom to take the food and feed her, and is ready to grab it herself. Nuppu still got it this time. She needs to eat, too.

"Yeah, just keep flying! This is our fish!"
Myy, too, seems unsure of whether to flatten herself or to stay standing. Putting her head down seems like an okay compromise. I think her reason to want to stay up is that she wants to eat already, though.

The parents stay on the defensive, Myy sneaks nibblebites of the fish.

Alert over, time to eat.
ETA: Video of the osplet bandings has been released now! The first chick shown is Myy, followed by three other nests, one of which had chicks still too small to band.
