N2 and Nuppu being two peas in a pod at nest #3 of Satakunta Ospreys.
N2 flattened for camoflage during intruder alert.
And speaking of Nuppu resembling her chick, she showed some unusual behavior for an adult osprey during a second alert. Reacting to a parent's alert call by diving down to the nest floor is instinctual for chicks, but adults stand with their wings spread to intimidate the intruder, or take flight to chase them away.
Nuppu did a series of nestling-like dives, getting up a bit and looking around inbetween. Looking kind of unsure if she should be hiding or not?
Nuppu is a parent, but she is very young, only three years old and on her first year as an adult. Maybe the stress of two alerts in a row got her confused for a moment and brought back a nestling reaction.
All is well.
Looking up at mom who is perching on the camera.
N2 enjoying some cooling wind today.
Ahti gives us a few closeups, with his family in the background eating the fish he just brought them.
Banding should be tomorrow for N2. No news as far as I know on at what time exactly, only that it won't be shown live, for reasons including that it's also a maintenance visit for the equipment.
A1 and A2 from nest #1 were already banded when they were moved to their foster nest, as they are about a week and a half older than N2. Hopefully we'll hear more from them later this summer as they grow to fledging age.
