With Singerfigure's head sculpted, I also needed to repair a few things elsewhere.
This figure wasn't doing quite as badly as the cyclops when it comes to stray scratches and toothmarks outside the extremities, but there still were a few here and there that I filled up and did my best to blend. I did this little by little with epoxy putty left over from each pass of sculpting the head.
As for the more major damage, some replacement parts were again necessary. I made new outermost toes for both feet with epoxy putty, and placed the
figure to stand while they cured. The supports were not necessary to
keep the figure standing, but just in case something would happen to
make it fall over.
The toe claws I used were already cured, and are from the same batch of raptor claws made out of leftover epoxy putty as Skye's toeclaws.
I sculpted a new tip for the tail with polymer clay, with a 1mm aluminum wire and a bit of foil filler inside.
I trimmed the baked tailtip, and made a little casing for the wire on the tail stump with epoxy putty, again amidst sculpting the head.
To attach the tailtip, I first glued the wire inside the fully cured putty tunnel, and after that had fully dried I filled in the seam with more epoxy putty and textured it. I could probably have left the tail as is, as a mark of in-universe injury, but I've already drawn Singer with a full-length tail in the illustrations I've made of these characters, so now the figure has a full-length tail again.
And last but not least, the figure was missing one fingertip on the right hand. I had first planned to sculpt it from scratch with epoxy putty and had already attached a wire armature for the new fingertip with one pass of putty, but I had to scrap that when the mix ratio on the putty turned out to have been a bit off and it didn't cure properly.
After removing the putty and wire, I remembered I had already sculpted disembodied raptor fingers with polymer clay when making Skye. I was originally going to make her first and third finger on each hand separately and attach them, but ended up attaching the finger armatures to the hand first and then sculpting the fingers onto them. I did however make those separate fingers before deciding on the different plan, and I still have them.
I picked one, and baked some scutes onto it to match this figure. Skye has smaller hands, but I only need to replace the fingertip, so it still fits. The finger had an indent at the tip for gluing on one of those leftover putty claws I already used two of for Singer's feet, so that's what I used for a claw.
And I have not forgotten the cyclops raptor figure, so now that one boy is only missing paint, let's make him a husband. I trimmed away the worst-damaged plastic at the same time as with Singer's figure. Fortunately some of the head remains, but I started with the body with this figure.
A lot of the leftover putty from sculpting Singer's head also went to filling in this figure's "dino damage", the wounds that were already part of the design but were a bit too extreme for me. I whittled down the raised edges of the wounds on the back a bit, but otherwise it was just filling them, and smoothing the transition and continuing the surrounding skin wrinkles over them.
I left the dino damage on the left thigh at only making it look less severe. I haven't drawn any scars on Beetlebiter so far, but I've also never drawn the left side of his body, so from now on scars on left leg is part of the character's design.
The rest is still a work in progress. I haven't fully decided yet how I'm going to handle his feet and hands, so I'll probably focus on making his head and painting Singer for a while and think about it.
