Slices of osprey life at Satakunnan sääkset nest #3 from the past week. Involves many a fish prey.
Myy having an evening preen.
Ahti brings a fish, and Myy mantles it.
Myy landing in the nest from the camera, where she, too, has started to sometimes perch.
Some quality Myy borbs.
Another exemplar fish delivery and mantle by Ahti and Myy, respectively.
Myy swallows the fish tail with ease.
Meal done, time to go do something else. The nest is now mostly just a place for transferring fish from one set of talons to another and eating. Myy has been consistently sleeping in a tree now.The next morning, Myy turns up to put in an order for breakfast.
Fishy!
There's already a leftover fishtail in the nest in addition to the fresher fish Myy is eating.Nuppu drops by. Myy guards her fish, but apparently mom is allowed to hang out at the nest with her.
Nuppu finds the old fishtail, and snacks on it while Myy eats her own fish.
A little throwback - Nuppu and Myy striking the same pose, with Myy being four days old and two months old, respectively.
Myy starts getting a bit too interested in the fishtail for Nuppu's liking, so she grabs her meal in her talons and takes it somewhere else to finish.
Myy starts getting a bit too interested in the fishtail for Nuppu's liking, so she grabs her meal in her talons and takes it somewhere else to finish.
After a while Myy follows Nuppu's example, and takes her fish with her as well when going to perch elsewhere.
Ahti and Nuppu visit the nest at the same time, and spend a moment looking around together. Ahti on the left, Nuppu on the right - check out the size difference!
Some lovely closeups with Myy and Nuppu.
Preen preen.
Ahti bringing another fish to the nest, and waiting for the ladies to come claim it. There's again already an older leftover in the nest in addition. Food is brought whenever it's caught, whether there's one fledgling to feed or three.
Myy flies in, and claims... the old leftover. I guess it was closer to grab.
Oh, right, there's that, too!
That's one full crop!
A visit by Nuppu yesterday. It's starting to be time for her to migrate, so I'm catching glimpses of her while I can.Myy shaking rainwater off her feathers.
And Myy arriving at the nest this morning, for a new day of fish and learning (perhaps soon learning to fish, on her own).
When fish arrives, though, Myy has already flown elsewhere, and Nuppu is at the nest to receive it.A bit of mantling for good measure.
She waited at the nest with the fish for a while, calling for Myy to come get the food. No response, so she ate it herself.
Myy was not happy to return just a bit too late and see mom eating her fish (Myy's, as all fishes are, according to Myy) in a tree. Her underbelly feathers appear to be a bit wet. Maybe she has been visiting the local fishing waters already for practice. Or just for a bath.
After enough screaming, eventually dad brought her a fish, too. A whole and still alive one at that - doesn't get much fresher than that.

Some time after watching that owl attack video, the livestream got recommended to me on YouTube (yes, I legit didn't realize it was on YouTube.....), and wow, Myy is, from what I've been reading here, gonna be a really good osprey :D
All of the nestcams are available on youtube, I just link to the sites that have more information on the nests in addition to a link to the camera stream.
