My fish!

Osprey fledgling and mother Myy and Nuppu at Satakunnan sääkset nest #3. Learning and teaching independence in various ways. Warning for a few views of a bloody fish.

Same hairdo.
Dad Ahti brings a fish, and Nuppu claims it. Myy gets her share by mom feeding her. Myy is not a tiny baby anymore, though, and is capable of eating on her own. Being an only child she hasn't had to fight for her food with siblings, but she is getting more determined to get a fish all to herself even when she isn't the only one at the nest during a fish delivery.
Getting ready for bed. Not sure if Nuppu was nervous to leave Myy alone in the nest, despite guarding her from on top of the camera, but the viewers were certainly pretty nervous about Myy deciding to spend the night in the nest instead of in a tree. The night before, she had been attacked in the nest by an owl! She did spend the rest of the night away and returned in the morning looking fine, but yes, the world is full of danger. Here is a video summary of that night's events, showing the quick attack, the owl (a Eurasian eagle-owl, Bubo bubo) returning to the empty nest afterwards, and Myy and Nuppu returning in the morning after it had left.

Also included in the beginning of the video is the first time Nuppu instead of Ahti brought Myy a fish. Adult females are the first ospreys to migrate, and Nuppu spending less of her time during the day guarding Myy is a sign her migration is drawing nearer. Myy will need to learn to be independent enough by then that she can be fine by herself inbetween Ahti dropping by with food.

Myy this morning, after sleeping in the nest again. No disturbances, but hopefully she'll switch to roosting soon.
Myy returning from a morning flight, with Nuppu waiting for her at the nest.
Nuppu and Myy have a tug-o-fish over a small European perch (Perca fluviatilis) that Ahti brought. Nuppu claimed it first, but Myy wasn't happy waiting to be fed. It's a pretty small fish to share, anyway.

Myy wins, and mantles her catch.
Nuppu moves closer again, and Myy defends.
Bonk!
Nuppu retreats, and lets her eat for a while before approaching again.

And that's how you get an only chick the training at food guarding that squabbling with siblings would provide.

Grow strong and stay safe, Myy.
