Una at closeup, with little brother and mom Nuppu in the background. It was a very hot day yesterday, so everyone is panting to stay cool. The chicks are too big for mombrella to cover, but their juvenile plumages are complete enough to help them thermoregulate.
Dad Niilo has brought a fish, and mom is mantling it for herself! The chicks would like to file a complaint, and also order another. Nuppu did share the fish soon, but she needs to eat, too, and the chicks are also big enough to be serious competition now if she lets them. Una will be seven weeks old tomorrow.
Then some full-colour peeks at the newly hatched sea-eaglets at Sydney. Three-day-old SE29 back/right, day-and-a-half-old SE30 front/left. The weather has been rainy and the nest damp, and the babies are quite the mess, but so long as they're warm and fed, they can coiffe their down however they like.
A little bickering at a feeding, momentarily looking drier, too. SE30 left.
Dad (who at this nest is named simply Dad) brings food, Lady shakes off her wet feathers before starting to feed the babies.
