Jackie and Shadow's first chick of this season has hatched!
Not quite out yet. Dad Shadow is on incubation duty, and gets up to roll the eggs. The shell is split, but the chick still needs to push it open.
First glance of the chick fully out of the egg. Not much more visible than a hunched back, lol. A head is a heavy thing to lift for a newborn.

Shadow pays the nest a visit in the evening, before going elsewhere to roost for the night. Though both parents incubate/brood, the female eagle does so overnight, as she is bigger and thus better equipped for keeping the babies warm.
