Ahote returns to the nest

There are three eaglets in the West End nest again! Ahote flew back this morning, after his accidental fledge and several days spent on the Turtle Rock peak, not far from the nest, but still the farthest away from home he'd ever been.

The nest camera pans, and finds Ahote on Turtle Rock.

And there he still is this morning, now seen with the overlook camera.

Poor baby. It'll be okay, you can do it!

Alright, here goes.

He takes flight...

And lands closer, but below the nest. He's behind the ridge, with an extended wing peeking out near the base of the camera pole.

More wingers.

Meanwhile, mom Thunder brings a fish to the nest. Breakfast, and perhaps further motivation.

Ahote flaps his wings again, and Thunder takes notice. Not much she can do, though, besides keep an eye on him and wait for him to figure it out on his own.

At the nest, looks like Sky has claimed the fish.

A parent lands on the Tor in the background. Not sure which parent, but the kids are being watched.

Incoming!

Quite the adventure you've had, and soon it's time for more of those. The eaglets are all 12 weeks old, and Kana'kini will be 13 weeks tomorrow, and I'm sure Ahote won't be the only fledgling in the family for long.
