Well, they're not exactly friends, but that's something. Not that osplets have friends, anyway; even a clutchmate sibling is competition for food that they learn to put up with while they're stuck growing in close proximity as nestlings, and then leave behind and never see again once they're ready to be independent from their parents. So not much different from a sibling.
