Utu (left/back) and Lumme surveying the misty swamp yesterday morning. Both have gone on little flying trips since their fledging (

Utu), so here are some takeoffs and landings.

Utu wingercizes, Lumme rouses her feathers to shake her plumage into shape for a flight trip of her own.
Couldn't get non-blurry shots of that particular takeoff, but here's Utu alone while she's away. He soon left on another trip of his own, too.

Utu goes for a morning jog today.
Lumme (right) and Utu perching, preening, snoozing, looking around. Osplet activities. Lumme slept in a tree last night instead of the nest, something she learned on her fledging trip. Looks like she's doing so tonight, too.

Nuppu at the nest with him yesterday morning, including receiving a fish delivery together. N2 turned 9 weeks old yesterday.

N2 claims the fish, and begins eating. He can self-feed just fine.

But Nuppu still feeds N2 some bites when he's turned in her direction.

It's gotten pretty clear there's indeed something up with N2's left wing. How serious or permanent the injury is is hard to say, but at the moment it's keeping him from properly exercising his wings like he used to be able to do, and from fledging. His parents are still protecting him and bringing him food, and if the wing starts getting better on its own, it's not too late to figure out flying before migration. Whether human intervention is needed, or permitted, we'll see.
